- Description: Bilt customers who paid off their beta cards in full are getting collections notices — including me. Here's what we know so far.

Reports on [Reddit](https://www.reddit.com/r/biltrewards/comments/1vc4vuv/?ref=pnm.now) and across industry blogs show that Bilt has sent customer accounts to a collection agency even though those accounts were paid off in full. I'm one of them. A $100 collections account from Tate & Kirlin turned up on my Credit Karma profile despite not having outstanding debt.

Most reports — and Bilt's own statement — point to the original beta Bilt Mastercard issued by Evolve Bank & Trust, which Bilt retired at the end of 2024\. A handful of customers say they're seeing collections accounts tied to cards they held after the Evolve era, so the scope may be wider than Bilt has acknowledged.

Bilt issued the following statement on [Reddit](https://www.reddit.com/r/biltrewards/comments/1vc0aff/comment/p0zczz5/?ref=pnm.now):

> We are aware of a small number of customers receiving unexpected collections notices and/or credit reports related to their beta Bilt card. We are in touch with the agency responsible and any erroneous credit reporting will be deleted immediately.

It's still unclear what caused this or how Bilt plans to make affected customers whole. My score took a real hit, and disputes routinely take weeks to clear.

This is unacceptable. Bilt Rewards is one of the best loyalty programs out there, and I'll keep saying that. But a devalued loyalty program costs you a flight. A collections account can cost you a mortgage rate, a car loan, or an approval you were counting on. Those aren't the same category of mistake, and I don't think affected customers are going to shrug this one off.
