Frontier Airlines is heading to South America for the first time. The Denver-based budget carrier announced nonstop service to three cities in Colombia, all departing from Orlando (MCO).

All three were once flown by Spirit Airlines, which left a low-cost-carrier gap in Colombia when it shut down earlier this summer.

"We believe there is strong, unmet demand for low-cost travel between Orlando and Colombia, and we look forward to offering affordable flight options between these two magnificent destinations," Frontier VP Tyri Squyres said in [a statement](https://news.flyfrontier.com/frontier-announces-major-international-expansion-with-first-ever-service-to-colombia/?ref=pnm.now) announcing the routes.

If you're planning a trip to Colombia, watch for an intro fare war here. Frontier tends to launch new routes with extremely low fares, then adjust after it sees how bookings shake out.
