- Description: After nearly 40 years without one, London City Airport (LCY) is finally getting a lounge. That said, Priority Pass and airline status might not get you in.

London City Airport (LCY) — the city-center airport in London's Royal Docks — has gone nearly 40 years without a real lounge. That changes in early 2027, when Aspire opens one a floor above the main concourse.

Early renderings show a sleek art deco and mid-century inspired space with an upscale pub-style bar and views of the runway. A [press release](https://www.londoncityairport.com/media-centre/press-releases/london-city-airport-to-celebrate-four-decades-of-aviation-with-new-luxury-pre-flight-hospitality-experience?ref=pnm.now) from London City Airport states that it will have a barista station and "artisanal food and drinks menu inspired by adventure and the city of London" on offer.

> "A modern luxury design aesthetic will welcome guests as they access the space via a 5\* hotel-like lobby within the departures lounge. The conveniently located lobby means the transition from the security lane to total relaxation will be seamless. Once inside, customers will experience a beautifully curated interior with a view of London City Airport’s unique runway."

The catch: it's likely pay-to-enter only. The airport states that the lounge is open to all passengers regardless of airline, bookable online, by walk-in, or eventually through an annual membership. What it doesn't say is whether a Priority Pass, airline status, or even a business class ticket gets you in for free. Only time will tell.

Andrew's Take

I'm a big fan of London City Airport, especially when I'm staying in East London and headed to Continental Europe. It's great to see the airport finally get a lounge, but I'm doubtful it'll be open to Priority Pass members and elites. LCY is a premium airport, and it'd get overcrowded fast if it were open to those passengers. Regardless, I'm excited to check it out next year.
