Chase quietly made a big change to The Edit hotel credit, somehow making it even harder to use than before.

As a refresher, the Chase Sapphire Reserve and Chase Sapphire Reserve for Business cards both come with up to $500 in annual statement credits for The Edit, Chase's luxury hotel platform. The benefit breaks down into two $250 statement credits, which require a two-night minimum stay to use.

As reported by Frequent Miler, Chase recently updated the benefit with a new restriction: back-to-back stays at the same hotel within 24 hours of checkout now count as one stay, and only the first stay is eligible for a credit. Booking two stays was previously an easy way to burn the entire $500 credit on a single trip.

The change is buried in Chase's own blog post about the benefit. I expect the application terms to be updated in the coming days.

Please note that back-to-back stays at the same property within 24 hours of checkout are considered a single stay—only the first stay is eligible for The Edit program benefits.

This change hits right as the first wave of Sapphire Reserve cardholders who applied during the 2025 card refresh come up for their $795 annual renewal.

The Edit credit, while a valuable perk, is too complicated to use. A two-night minimum is annoying enough, and splitting it between two $250 credits adds another layer of complexity. This most recent change makes it clear that Chase hopes its customers don't actually use this benefit. For now, book it as two separate reservations with a one-day gap — and if possible, use points to fill in the extra night.
