Reminder: Wyndham Rewards' Award Chart Changes Tomorrow
· 1 min read
Wyndham Rewards is moving from a three-tier award chart to four starting tomorrow, September 15. It's the biggest change to the program's pricing structure since it moved to fixed tiers in 2019, and it will likely devalue a handful of properties.
The current chart prices every property at 7,500, 15,000, or 30,000 points a night. Starting tomorrow, those prices become 5,000, 15,000, 30,000, and 45,000. Wyndham is redistributing hotels across all four tiers — the company says "the bulk" will stay in the bottom three, with the new 45,000-point tier reserved for a small number of its most elevated properties.
That's good news if your hotel drops into the new 5,000-point tier, and bad news if it jumps to 45,000 — that's a whopping 50% jump from today's top rate. Wyndham hasn't yet published which properties are going up or down in price, so if you've got a stay in mind, tonight's your last shot at locking in current pricing. You can always cancel if the price drops or your plans change.
I like that Wyndham's sticking with a fixed chart instead of going dynamic, unlike other programs like IHG and Marriott that have gone fully dynamic. But a new top tier almost always means someone's paying more, and until we see which properties are affected, I'd book anything I care about before midnight tonight just in case the price skyrockets.
