Amex Opens New Centurion Lounge at Amsterdam Schiphol

American Express has opened a new Centurion Lounge at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport (AMS), giving eligible cardholders a premium space before international departures. The Centurion Lounge Schiphol opened to the public today, September 17, 2026, and is open daily from 6 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. It's located in Departures 3, between Concourse E and F.

Access is limited to passengers on non-Schengen international flights, with entry allowed up to three hours before departure (or within five hours during a long connection). The nearly 6,000-square-foot lounge includes a Blue Roast coffee bar, a buffet of local dishes such as bitterballen and Dutch potatoes, and a bar serving cocktails and mocktails, plus workstations. The design draws on Amsterdam's canals and architecture, with blue, green, and brown tones and artwork from local artists.

The opening makes Amsterdam just the third Centurion Lounge location in Europe, joining London-Heathrow (LHR) and Stockholm (ARN). Amex has more openings planned, including new lounges at Newark (EWR) and Boston (BOS), plus a Sidecar by The Centurion Lounge at Charlotte Douglas (CLT).

Andrew's Take

Schiphol has always felt light on lounges for how much traffic moves through it, so a Centurion makes sense. That said, under 6,000 square feet is small by Centurion standards, so I wouldn't be surprised if it gets crowded fast during peak travel times.
