Last Chance To Transfer Amex Membership Rewards To Etihad Guest
ยท 1 min read
Quick reminder: As announced earlier this year, American Express is dropping Etihad Guest as a transfer partner effective June 30, 2026. So if you're hoping to stock up on Etihad miles, make sure you transfer them by the end of the day tomorrow.
You might consider transferring Amex points to Etihad Guest to book short-haul American Airlines or JetBlue flights, or to find better award space in Etihad's premium cabins (when compared to partner programs like AAdvantage).
However, note that the program has a strict cancellation policy for award tickets. It charges this fee in miles, which ranges from 25% to 100% of your redemption depending on when you cancel.
After June 30, you'll still be able to transfer Capital One Miles, Citi ThankYou points, Bilt Points, and Rove Miles to Etihad Guest.
It's always unfortunate to see a transfer partner go away, but this one signals a broader change. Amex has cut Emirates Skywards and Cathay Pacific Asia Miles transfer rates to 5:4 (down from 1:1), and now it's cutting Etihad Guest transfers completely. While I hope this is the last devaluation we see from Amex for a while, take it as a reminder to diversify your points portfolio and redeem them regularly.
