Club Avolta Will Match Almost Any Airline or Hotel Status

Club Avolta, the free loyalty program behind Hudson News, airport restaurants, and duty-free shops worldwide, is giving out elite status to just about anyone with existing status elsewhere.

Through a status match offer run with StatusMatch.com, members of essentially any airline or hotel program — at any tier — can request 12 months of Club Avolta Gold. There's no application fee, and you'll hear back within three business days.

Gold sits above the Silver tier you get just for signing up, taking your discount from 5% off shopping to 7%, with 5% off dining either way. That's a modest bump, and after the first year you have to requalify on merit, which means actually spending money in Avolta stores.

As an added benefit, Club Avolta and Radisson Rewards match tiers in both directions, and linking the two accounts in the Avolta app maps Gold to Radisson Rewards Premium. That tier normally takes five nights or three stays to earn, and it brings next-category room upgrades, free early check-in and late check-out, 10% off food and beverage, and bonus points on paid stays.

Two extra percentage points off a Toblerone won't change how I spend money at the airport. But the match is free, it takes about five minutes to enroll in, and the Radisson match is a nice added benefit. This is worth doing if you spend any amount of money at the airport.
