Wyndham and Barclays just announced major changes to their credit card lineup. The Wyndham Rewards® Earner℠ Business Card — long a favorite for gas — drops from 8x to 5x at the pump, and the annual fee will jump from $95 to $149. It's also adding new benefits, like an annual $50 software credit and a 20% redemption discount.

Meanwhile, the Wyndham Rewards Earner® Plus Card sees an annual fee hike — $75 to $95 — but also gets new benefits. The most exciting is top-tier Wyndham Diamond status for the first year (then Platinum), a 15,000-point anniversary bonus, and a 10% redemption discount.

A new card joins the ranks, too. The Wyndham Rewards Earner Premier® Card is the brand's take on a luxury card, with a $395 annual fee. Perks include an annual $100 statement credit after spending $100 at select Wyndham brands, an annual $65 statement toward select wholesale club memberships, and Diamond status, among other benefits.

This is a real mixed bag. The new $395 Earner Premier is the headline — over $400 in annual credits, Diamond status, and a free night after five stays. If you're deep in Wyndham, it's worth a look. But the Earner Business Card takes a hit: gas drops from 8x to 5x, gutting what made it a wallet staple for many. New credits soften the blow, but if gas was your reason for carrying it, this one stings.
