American Airlines Vacations just launched MaximizeMiles, a limited-time promotion paying up to 11X miles and Loyalty Points per $1 on vacation packages. The amount you'll earn depends on your AAdvantage status tier.

You must book by September 30, 2026, and travel can take place between July 3, 2026 and July 31, 2027. Here's what each tier earns per $1 spent, up from the usual 1X (general members) and 5X (elites):

  • AAdvantage member — 5X
  • Gold — 7X
  • Platinum — 8X
  • Platinum Pro — 9X
  • Executive Platinum — 11X

There's no promo code, no cap, and no minimum spend. Earnings are based on the highest-status traveler on the booking. A few catches: Basic Economy fares don't earn miles, taxes and fees are excluded, and every traveler needs an AAdvantage number on the booking — if someone on the booking isn’t an AAdvantage member, their miles are forfeited.

This has the potential to be a great deal. A $5,000 package earns a general member 25,000 Loyalty Points, putting them over halfway to Gold elite status from one trip alone. Just be sure to price out the flight and hotel separately first: package rates can sometimes be more expensive than booking separately, and if the markup costs more than the bonus is worth, it's not worth it.
