Delta's DraftKings Partnership Is Finally Live — It's a Trivia Game
· 1 min read
Delta launched SkyPicks on Wednesday, the first product to come out of its DraftKings partnership. It's a free-to-play sports prediction contest that runs inside Delta's in-flight Wi-Fi portal (Delta Sync) and is open to SkyMiles members 21 and up on domestic routes.
Top scorers win Delta gift cards. It starts with the MLB, and NFL matchups arrive later this year. To play, you sign in with a DraftKings account or create one, then answer questions about real games — player head-to-heads and game-winner picks.
Contests run twice a week, and SkyPicks only works on personal devices through the Sync portal, not on seatback screens.
There's no wagering, no deposits, and no SkyMiles involved, and that's by design. Delta and DraftKings announced this partnership at CES in January 2025. Within days, Senator Richard Blumenthal wrote (PDF link) to both CEOs, citing the 1962 federal law that outlaws gambling on commercial aircraft and asking them to pause.
Eighteen months, a Senate letter and a customer survey about in-flight sportsbooks later, what shipped is a trivia game. I doubt that's where it ends. The notable part isn't SkyPicks, it's that Delta built a flow where you create a DraftKings account mid-flight to chase a gift card. That's customer acquisition at its finest.
