JetBlue's 'Blue First' Product Will Start Rolling Out Fleet-Wide Later This Year

JetBlue's long-awaited domestic first class product now has a name, "Blue First." The name and rollout details were first reported by aviation insider @xJonNYC, who has been tracking the seat's FAA certification.

The product's fleet-wide rollout is expected to begin in the second half of 2026 with roughly 20 aircraft reconfigured per month and most of the fleet complete by the end of 2027.

A Blue First cabin will be installed on every JetBlue aircraft that doesn't already have a Mint business class cabin. In a March 2026 SEC filing, JetBlue disclosed that all aircraft will get three to four rows of first class, more than the eight to 12 seats originally planned.

Don't expect lie-flat seats on these aircraft, though. The airline is believed to have selected the Collins Aerospace MiQ recliner. This is the same seat American Airlines uses in its domestic first class cabins.

To keep overall capacity roughly flat, JetBlue will reduce legroom in its economy cabin, giving up its industry-leading seat pitch in the process. JetBlue's oldest A320s will reportedly be reconfigured first.

As a New York-based semi-frequent JetBlue flyer, the airline's lack of a domestic first class cabin has always felt like money left on the table. The economy legroom cut stings, but a premium product on more routes seems like a solid way for the airline to drum up badly needed revenue. The bigger question for us points folks: will Mosaic members see complimentary upgrades?
