Avianca's LifeMiles+ subscription has ended free award changes and cancellations for new subscribers, effective Friday, June 26, 2026. This benefit was previously available to all LifeMiles+ subscribers at the Basic level or higher.

This change was not explicitly announced by LifeMiles. Instead, the perk simply disappeared from the benefits page, with the only confirmation buried in an FAQ that you have to expand to read.

If you subscribed to an eligible LifeMiles+ tier before June 26, you're grandfathered with free changes and cancellations for 12 months. Other benefits — like the lucrative 10% discount on Star Alliance awards — remain unchanged for now.

As a LifeMiles+ Basic subscriber, it's sad to see this perk go away. I've used it to speculatively book awards I can cancel if something better opens up. Doing this without the fee waiver costs $200 per passenger. I'm happy to see the loyalty program grandfather existing subscribers for a year, but will likely cancel my subscription after that.
