Lufthansa Group Rolling Out Free Starlink Wi-Fi Across All Airlines
· 1 min read
Lufthansa Group is going all in on Starlink. Starting August 19, a Lufthansa A320neo becomes the group's first aircraft with free, gate-to-gate Starlink Wi-Fi. This kicks off a rollout to all 850-plus planes across all of Lufthansa Group's airlines by 2029.
The service — "Lufthansa Group Wi-Fi," sponsored by Mastercard — is free for anyone with a Miles & More number or Travel ID, in every cabin. Lufthansa and SWISS have Starlink installed first, then Austrian, Brussels Airlines, ITA, Edelweiss, Discover, Air Dolomiti, Lufthansa City Airlines, and Eurowings will follow.
Lufthansa was the last of Europe's big three airline groups to commit to Starlink — but it's the only one going fleet-wide across every airline, with no carve-outs.
Starlink makes any long flight more enjoyable, so this is great news. Just don't expect it on your next Lufthansa flight — three-year rollouts tend to take longer than expected, and for a while this will be a tail-number lottery, not a guarantee.
